Kyouya was running down the stairs toward the kitchen.
“Crap! Crap! I’m gonna be late! Why did nobody wake me up!” He nervously murmured to himself.
He managed to enter the kitchen to see his mother, father, and sisters sitting at the table. His mother and father were half way done with their plate of omurice, while Miyuki, the older of his two sisters, was already done with her meal. Nanoha, his youngest sister, was already done with her breakfast and Kyouya’s and was drinking the blackest cup of coffee her father could possibly brew with a perfectly straight face.
“So you’re telling me that the reason why you quit your job as a bodyguard was because you almost died.” The brunette asked before taking another sip of her coffee.
“Yes.”
A smile spread across Nanoha’s face as she tried her best to not laugh.
“Come on, Shirou! Almost dying is nothing to retire over! A real hero of justice would continue working until their dying breath!”
Miyuki snickered at her sister’s joke.
“Yeah, dad! Even if someone like you lost an arm, that shouldn’t be enough to disillusion him! You should’ve been tougher!”
Although she felt bad about her husband being made fun of by his own daughters, Momoko couldn’t help but almost laugh at their mockery. To stop Shirou from seeing her laugh, Momoko covered her mouth. The black haired man turned away from his family and held his head down in shame.
“Nanoha! Did you eat my breakfast again?” Kyouya shouted. “That’s like the third time this week alone you’ve done that!”
“Hey, it’s not my fault you’re constantly waking up late. Maybe if you woke your lazy ass up a few minutes earlier than me, I wouldn’t eat your stuff. Besides, it’s not like you would’ve been able to eat your omurice at this time anyway.”
Kyouya let out an annoyed sigh.
“…All my classes are going to have lectures today… how am I supposed to concentrate on an empty stomach?”
Nanoha quickly stood up and began to approach her brother.
“You’re gonna drive to school today, right? Drop me off at my school. It’ll be faster for both of us.”
“Fine. But don’t expect me to keep dropping you off if you steal everything I care about.” He let out an annoyed huff before walking out of the kitchen and heading toward the door.
“Are you going to come with us, Miyuki?”
“Nah. I’ll just walk to school myself. It’s not like the school I go to is that far from where we live.”
Nanoha quickly walked out of the kitchen, following her brother.
-8 minutes later-
After a short drive, Kyouya’s car stopped in front of Seishou Elementary School. Nanoha quickly exited the car and closed the door.
“You better get going now. It wouldn’t do you any good to be late.” She calmly said as she walked toward the building’s entrance.
With the brunette now gone, Kyouya drove away. Standing in front of Seishou’s front doors were a blonde, green eyed girl and a purple haired, blue eyed girl who were the same age as her.
“Nanoha! What took you so long to get here? Class is about to start in a few minutes.” The purple haired girl scolded her.
“Sorry, Arisa, Suzuka. I would’ve been here far sooner if my good for nothing brother didn’t wake up so late.”
“God, that brother of yours sounds like a loser. How is he related to you and your sister?”
“No clue. I guess he must’ve gotten the same loser genes that my dad has.” She calmly said before walking toward the doors.
She opened it, allowing herself and her friends to enter the school.
“Wasn’t your brother dating Suzuka’s sister at some point? Whatever happened to that?”
Nanoha began to grin at her friend’s question.
“I happened to it.” She gleefully said while pointing at herself.
The three girls stopped in their tracks as Arisa raised an eyebrow.
“What?”
“My brother’s such an incompetent lover that it turns out he was barely seeing her. In fact, he seldom ever responded to her texts. Do you remember that project the three of us did a few months ago?”
“That biology one where we had to make a cardboard replica of an extinct species?”
The brunette nodded her head.
“Yep. That one. You were in charge of researching the animal we were making a replica of, I was in charge of buying the materials, and Suzuka was in charge of actually making it. Once I bought everything she needed, I went to Suzuka’s house to drop off the supplies. Before I could leave, Shinobu spoke to me about matters that concerned her relationship with my brother. She told me that she felt incredibly lonely, that he wasn’t treating her well, and that she hoped I could talk to him about this because he wouldn’t answer any of her messages. I’d go into detail about what happened next, but I don’t think Suzuka would feel comfortable hearing about it, so I’ll just say that I ended up doing something to get her to fall for me and leave my brother.”
“Suzuka, is this true?”
“Yes. Nanoha comes to my house every few days to visit my big sister in her room. I’m not really sure what they do since I don’t pay attention to them, but I have heard some strange sounds. Things like muffled screams, my sister shouting Nanoha’s name, and what sounds like someone jumping up and down on the bed. Arisa’s face flushed the instant she realized what her friend and Shinobu were doing.

-Several hours later-
Nanoha was in the middle of her math class. She was concentrated on her teacher’s lesson when her phone suddenly vibrated. The brunette’s eyes widened as she put her left hand in her uniform’s pocket.
Why is Shinobu texting me now of all times? She knows I’m still in school. She thought to herself as she maintained eye contact with the blackboard. Nanoha patiently waited until her teacher finished teaching and sat back at her desk to look at her computer to quickly pull her phone out and look at the message she received.
Hey, baby. I know you’re still in school, and I’m sorry if this is disturbing you, but can you come to my house after you’re done? It’s been a few days since we were last together…
Nanoha quickly tapped on the message and began to respond to it.
Sure thing. I’ll try to go to your house as soon as possible.
She sent the message and then put her phone back into her pocket.
-A few hours later-
The school day finished, and Nanoha exited the school. She pulled her phone out and began to text her mother.
I’m gonna go to Suzuka’s house for a little while. I think I’ll be home in time for dinner. She wrote before putting her phone in her pocket. The brunette began to walk to her left toward the Tsukimura family’s mansion when Suzuka approached her.
“Are you gonna visit my sister, Nanoha?”
“Yeah. She asked me if I could earlier, and I said yes.” Nanoha chuckled slightly. “Now I’m pretty much obligated to, or she’ll get upset.”
“Let’s walk there together then. That way I can open the door for you.”
“All right.”
The two girls walked together until they eventually reached the purple haired girl’s home, a large mansion with a blue roof and red walls. She ran over to the front door of it to unlock it and then entered. Nanoha followed her shortly afterward. They both walked upstairs.
“I’ll be in my room if you want to speak with me about anything.” She said before walking to her right.
Nanoha turned to her left and walked down the hallway until she reached the fourth door to her right. She opened the door and saw Shinobu lying in bed with only a white shirt that had the word “volte” written on it and white panties with blue strips going down it vertically. The brunette quickly walked out of Shinobu’s room and closed her door. She went down the hallway, walked down the stairs, and then exited the mansion.
