Work Text:

The breeze moved the grass as it always did, the fireflies went up and around as they always did and the the rain still hit every night as it always did; managing in doing so to keep the sunflowers alive, as well as the only inhabitants of this island in the middle of the void, that being the player known as GoodTimesWithScar or just Scar, and his lovely and deeply care for Jellie.

And though the days may feel longer on this island, Scar didn't let that pull him down, for as he had done every single time ever since he woke up here, he made the best of his circumstances even if he wasn't all that happy with the facts.

So, of course, in routine he always went up, rolled his wheelchair close to him and depending on the day managed to get on it before the sun was fully out or not. Then he would feed himself and his companion before he did the only hobby he could have on this island: that is farming sunflowers for both food and aesthetic, as they help decorate his home as well as be enough of a plantation that gave him food for the next bunch of days after farming.

“I'm telling you Jellie,” he even said sometimes as he rolled through the fields upon fields of flowers. “One day we will find some rabbits around here and I will be able to give you a very yummy breakfast.” Which then was only answered with a meow from his furry friend.

And so the days went by for the so-called fifth winner of the so-called Secret Life game; that is to say, even as someone who was able to be called such a big title, Scar was day by day losing hope on what his fate would be, for while he knows from the memories he was able to remember once he won that he may one day play another game and see his friends, every day the hope for that happening becomes thinnier and thinnier.

Which maybe is part of the reason why he stops his routine, for he decides to not wake up before dawn and decides to just sleep through it. Decides at the same type to not tend to his flowers. Decides to try and find anything else to do, and he won't admit it, but it does feel well not only on his ever bad health to finally relax, but it makes him also realize just how exhausted he is of not only waiting for something to happen, but also of how he is of tried of being alone, because while Jellie will always be his best friend and companion he is nowhere near to being like… Grian, who Scar has not seen ever since… Since he died some time before Scar won.

(He probably was okay…. Probably…)

Which really that was all that Scar's life was for a while, started being only cycles of him trying to figure out anything to do than what he had started doing at first, and maybe that's why the sudden appearance of someone happened, for in a morning like none other, where Scar had finally decided to go out to find more seeds to fill his chests once again, he found at the ramp of his house a man he knew all too well.

And he was unconscious, or so it seems, for one his bright parrot-like wings were in a very bad shape and he looked to be all dirty as if he had dragged himself through the dirt which considering the now bent sunflowers that he could clearly see from the porch appeared to be the case. And look Scar does for at least a second think that this gotta be too good to be true, because over everything that he had wished for the time being here, how is it that his wish of Grian appearing was the one that came true?

Still, he doesn't think there is any way this is part of the sick game the Secret Keeper had made him play and is continuously trying to keep playing with him by trapping him in here until he can “truly” win Secret Life. So while it's a bit of a hardship to move Grian's body, he manages to get him in a sitting position that makes it all the more easier to roll inside and pull Grian with him as he does.

And Scar tries his best to not be too worried by Grian's current state, and decides very wisely if he may say, to wait by cleaning and preparing some clothes for Grian (the clothes he used on his yellow life being the only appropriate options, his Mayor outfit definitely not even being able to be considered). As well as preparing what he can of the leftover water he has to clean Grian's wing, even if doing so will mean he won't have any until the next rain happens.

Still, it doesn't make it any easier when Grian wakes up, clearly disoriented and even jumping back a bit at seeing Scar, before he gives Scar his biggest smile and throws himself to hug him.

“Scar you are alive!” He screams as he does, and Scar though overwhelmed can't help but hug back as fast and to, perhaps, cling a bit too much to Grian as soon as he realizes he really is here. And Grian's laugh of happiness definitely does not help Scar enough to keep himself together, as he slowly starts to cry as he tries his best to press Grian closer to him to both feel his breath and pulse, needing to see if he is really alive and here.

It's amazing to after this whole time feel complete again, as if the part of his soul that was missing is finally back into place, though, Scar will admit he does not feel as good as he thought he would as if some part of him still fears this being some part of the Secret Keepers game as if Grian could be… Fake? Not him? Just silly thoughts really, and he was sure none of them would come to be true and were just part of the disbelief at his life finally having a turn for good.

Or so he thought until Grian finally moved away and with an angry sigh gave Scar a very uncharacteristic glare of anger. “Scar, I can not believe you have been hiding over here while all of us have been fighting day and night!”

Scar's hand trembles slightly and he grows confused, but before he can say anything, Grian continues on going, sounding rather annoyed as if Scar has managed to really piss him off —something that he hasn't managed to do since Double Life, though back then Grian was nothing better and would mostly become like that when he couldn't justify himself anymore.

“And I mean, I'm happy you won once at least, but was that really justification to make a deal to stay away from everyone, from me? Even after we agreed to leave what happened in Double Life behind?” his eyes, as voidless as always felt like daggers as he makes sure to look at Scar in the eyes as he says this.

And…. Why- Is he serious? Does he really believe this is Scar's fault? As if he did not at all want to follow the Secret Keepers task? As if he had not been fighting every week for the duration of Secret Life to try to have a team and manage to not end up alone, again and- Scar just can't, he can not manage to hold off his anger.

“Are you serious? You know better than anyone we were forced to do as our task asked us to! And we all agreed to not judge anyone because of it,” his own body starts to tremble while Grian doesn't even seem to show anything else but calm disappointment, such a strange way for him to react when he can be more emotional than Scar. “And I didn't even choose to be here! I thought you would know that considering you are the admin of every one of those servers!”

“Don't blame me!” Grian said, finally standing away from Scar looking more than done. “At least I didn't enjoy doing my tasks like you did, because you sure didn't seem to be all that annoyed with having to be the villain didn't you?”

And for a second Scar is ready to grow angry and shout at Grian with as much anger as possible, shove into his partners arms all the worst of his feelings that have slowly been accumulating since he won, but the certain phrasing of Grian makes him stop. For there was no way at all for Grian to know what Scar's task had been, as for when he had got said task Grian was not only still alive but Scar had been keeping him at arms range in hopes of not harming him which means…

“You're not Grian.”

And is truly horrific how Grian's face loses all emotion and only a clear amusement in his- it's eyes, because what was supposedly Grian gets encapsulated in a dark purple gas as it says –not anymore in Grian's voice but in echo without a clear tone. “Good perception, Earth, looking closer will get you far on the games but not on a prison of your own making. Enjoy your freedom while you can” And with a flash they were no more.

Was… Scar couldn't help but put his face on his hands in desperation, no way he now had to also worry after damn doppelgangers! How could the Secret Keeper do such a thing? Was that how that one time Tango sounded like Ren? Was- It didn't matter, he… He needed to calm himself down, now he knew the Secret Keeper would definitely not try this again and when Scar managed to get out he would be able to tell Grian and everyone else how awful it was to see something that resembled his partner and talked in a voice that was not human at all all while trying to manipulate Scar.

Thankfully for now Jellie managed to get him out of his own mind before he could start to actually panic. And holding his dear pet on his lap definitely made him to be able to feel as if he had his feet on the ground, and her licks to his hands made him feel that at least this wasn't too bad, he had managed to call the thing out before he truly let himself think it was actually Grian, and hey, he had also been complimented on being able to call out the impostor. Though, their nickname for him was rather strange, but at least he had not been called something horrible like Stitch, so it was alright enough.

After said incident Scar got a renewed need of being able to live here until he could find a way out, so he started to once again taking care of the flowers and even manage to find to his surprise some wheat seeds, which made it all the better to see the next rainy day happen for it meant his crops will grow faster than expected. Still, he did manage to get wet a time or two by accident with how sudden the rain had started to be lately, but in no time he was able to start farming both wheat and sunflower seeds for his meal, so he didn't take much note of it.

That is until one day when he woke up to rain making it so there was no sun to wake him up which in consequence made him stay in bed for longer and on top of that made him wake up to a person sitting on the side of his bed. And Scar will admit for a second he doubts himself, because could this truly be him? Even after last time not having been him? But any doubt gets thrown out the window when Grian, probably feeling Scar move, turns up to look at him and smiles at him with so much happiness that it can't be fake, it truly can't.

“Scar, you are awake,” he says, sounding on the verge of tears, he instantly moves to hold his hand with such a careful touch that reminds Scar of countless nights spent at his side. “I was afraid you would not wake up.”

Scar chuckles, because that's such stupid worry to have and yet…

“I thought I would never see you again, birdy,” Scar says, trying his best to not let his emotions get the best of him. “How did you find me?”

Grian sniffles and as he takes a breath in answer. “I made a deal with the Secret Keeper, but that doesn't matter, I'm here, we are together after all this time!”

And it really feels as if it can really be truth, still Scar asks how Grian manage to get inside unnoticed and Grian proceeds to tell him the most dramatic of stories and Scar can't help but laugh at Grian explaining that in his attempts to get inside he slid down the front ramp and managed to get his face full of mud.

As the day goes by and Grian helps to cook something for them to have for brunch, Scar takes notice of how strangely Jellie is acting towards Grian, hissing at him and not getting any nearer that at arm length of him, but maybe in slight blindness to the truth, Scar makes no notice of said conduct and only keeps on excitedly telling Grian what they will do when they manage to get out off this island.

And of course midway through Scar remembers the incident he had last time with the fake Grian and decides to tell Grian all about it, whose reaction to the matter is rather interesting. For he does seem surprised and worried at hearing it but even then he only says.

“Must have been one of the Watchers pretending to be me,” And look Scar knows that the games are controlled not merely by Grian with his admin powers, but by other powerful beings who are not known to them, an example of them being the Secret Keeper, but seeing the bird hybrid mention it so casually definitely makes Scar feel off.

So he asks, rather careful as a slow anxiety starts to creep his being from his toes. “Watchers? What are those?”

And Grian turned his head to the side as he frowned in his direction. “Have I not shown you? The Watchers, powerful beings that destroyed the first server I was ever an admin of, and who I'm part of?”

Scar is at a loss of words, and confusion, a fact he makes known by asking in the less dramatic way he can manage. “You are a- who and- when- and what?”

Grian of course laughs, though he seems a bit distant as he takes a sip of his tea. “Yeah, it's a whole thing, I have a like… Another form I suppose, that's like not player like”

Scar opens his mouth and blinks a couple of times before he says in excitement. “Oh my god, Gri, you gotta show me! How did I never know about this!?”

Grian smiles at him with humor and stands up and in an awfully similar manner to his impostor makes his whole body and face to be as calm as he can manage and with a gas that has followed Scar into his worst of dreams. And is nothing more than the blink of an eye that he changes from a bird-hybrid player who is only slightly taller than Scar (on his chair that is, he would be way taller if he could stand) to a being that seems to emanate light.

And look, if Scar was speechless before now he is not even able to think, because while Grian's image is majestic and truly looks very beautiful, is such a jarring contrast from who Scar has known ever since he met the other that it really takes a good while to even process what he is seeing, but when he does… Well he can more than appreciate the fact of how his soulmate looks.

Grian looked still like himself, as crazy as that sounded, his eyes, though now framed by white strands of hair, were still the dark obsidian color as they always were, his clothes way more “divine” than they had ever been were a great way to highlight just how gorgeous his wings had become, as they were not only bigger than before but were a purple that reminded Scar of nether portals, both in color and in the weird wave moments they seem to have in them.

“You are beautiful.” He said without restraint, already rolling away from the table to move to touch Grian, because like this he can really understand how someone can be the center of someone else's devotion.

But then, of course, the fantasy is cracked; because as soon as Scar moves to take in Grian's hand to pull him down so he can really see this new face of his, he does not manage to touch Grian at all, his hands passing through without explanation. And he would have thought this was part of what this true(?) form of Grian entitled, but then the not-Grian instantly said as this happened: “Oh, players are supposed to be tangible, right?”

Scar can't even manage to make any comment about that comment before he just feels himself get incredibly frustrated, because, seriously? Had he been once again played as a fool? Even when he had known this could happen?

“Get out,” he managed to say through the anger and desperation forming inside him, because he knows he can not really damage something that may hold the same power as the Secret Keeper. “Get the hell out of my house and don't come back, you trashy copycat!”

And when Scar closes his eyes as to not try to put himself in more danger than necessary by trying to fight this- this thing, he knows that the next time he opens them he will be once again alone. And so it happens. And so it was only him, his cries of anger at once again letting himself hope and Jellie who were here. And Jellie had now, more understandably, come close to snuggle with him and tried to calm him down while all that Scar wanted was to for once to truly have Grian at his side once again.

After that he stopped sleeping, mostly because whenever he did he would only be reminded of the impostor who had managed to not only try to make him for a couple of days after truly regret what had happened in the last game, but also who had tried to gain his truth. Of the impostor who had taken in Grian's face, voice and whole being, which just made his worry as to what was of his partner even worse.

And so he spent every night staring at the stars as if they could hold the answer to his worries, to his guilt for not knowing truly if this was his own fault, because was he supposed to fail so he wouldn't become this? Had his actions in the last game made it so no one could want to save him? Not even his soulmate who as an admin had (probably) enough power or connections to at least try? And of course the stars only shine in response as if acknowledging his worries but telling him how silly they were for them.

Strangely enough he hated the lack of follow up to his lack of sleep or work, after all he had thought that the “Grian” visits were purely tied to how he acted in contrast to what the Secret Keeper wanted from him, was it even them who had trapped Scar in here or were those supposed Watcher actually the ones behind this? Still, he knew that maybe his captor(s) probably enjoyed seeing him suffer.

As both his sleep schedule as well as his crops grew worse and worse Scar knew that even if there was a next time of a “Grian” showing up he may just ignore them until they go away; for he has for a while started to hear Grian even when he is not there, which just makes it all that more incapable to feel capable of trying to get his hopes up one time more, for just the thought of it. The thought of once again getting tricked and having to live with the fact that if only he was crazy enough he could have Grian back for at least a night, even if in the end he would end up feeling more hollow than before, keeps him more awake than any nightmare could.

And maybe, he even eventually comes to think, if “Grian” came again Scar would at least hold the impostor long enough to be reminded of the good times, hoping he would not once again be attacked by all the thoughts that made him rethink of how he could probably just be a very bad person for choosing all he did and even managing to win after it. And maybe he would even allow himself to try to sleep as if to only see Grian's face for a moment before he became another nightmerish creature.

In all honesty after endless nights without sleep, Scar is surprised to wake up with the feeling as if he has actually slept, as well as by the fact he can see the sun coming up in the horizon.

And he really does expect that by afternoon he would be visited once again by a “Grian”. Expects to be met with him when he gets back inside after he finally manages to get some work around (even managing to catch some fish he had found on a pond that had formed from his endless days of unkept work). He expects to wake up to be cuddling an impostor of the person he loves the most. Expects to see a version of his soulmate that he knows is not him but would allow him to at least for a second pretend he is not trapped.

Not that he is any happy when it does happen, still curiously enough when Scar tries to scare him away by shouting that he won't be a fool again, the “Grian” acts just as Grian would, and even manages to hold Scar with his wings in that calming way he always does. And, maybe because he knows this “Grian” is fake, he is rather impressed about how not even after a week of being here the impostor has not managed to slip out at all, not even in changing forms, calling him other names, or getting angry at stuff that doesn't make sense. But his paranoia is not able to be completely shut off even if it mellows with every passing day.

And just maybe, maybe just a tiny bit, that's why Scar let his guard down, and one morning as he wakes up next to “Grian” he turns in instinct to snuzzle closer and even goes to give him a morning kiss, only pausing when his lips are about to meet.

And his breath hitched and even though Grian asks with worry why he stop; Scar can not hold himself from just jumping back and take a lot of calming breaks to not start to panic, because he was losing his mind by now, and he wasn't sure how much more of this suffering he would be able to take. And worst of all Grian tries to comfort him, pulls a calming hand on his back trying to make him relax, and he just can't, he is at the end of his wits with this.

Because he is okay- he is, maybe he is just panicking a tiny bit- Because Grian was- he wasn't- because he was here and- and- Scar wished he didn't felt such feeling about someone who could be his beloved partner and- and-

And perhaps in an act of desperation, Scar does what he does, because he moves as swiftly as his body allows him and takes the pot on his bed side, breaking it against the wall and holding the shards in a threatening stance towards “Grian”. And for a second he sees real fear in “Grian”'s face which makes him hesitate for a second too long thinking that perhaps this is truly Grian even by now there is enough proof against it. His hesitation does earn bim his hand being slapped away and the impostor laughing at him with delight.

“You really can't hurt me even when you know I'm not him, can you?” Scar would have, he would have done it to show them he is not as defenseless as they think, he swears. It is just… Hurting Grian, again, it's just not something he had wished to do ever again and as much as his mind knows the person in front of him is not him, his heart can't comprehend such a thing.

The impostor puts a hand on Scar's cheek and the feel of it burns all worse than any lava would, they seem to embrace the feeling of victory at managing to pull the wool over his eyes better than any of his antecessors before he too disappeared in a blow of wind.

The house grows silent and not for the last time Scar truly believes he may have been better not following the Secret Keepers advice and not winning Secret Life because at least then he would be ignorant of all of this and maybe wouldn't have through trials upon trials only because of how human he is.

-

The rotten mood that follows the last visit, the last incident, gets pulled on for days; not even Jellie trying to cheer him up manages to get Scar in a better mood. He continues on taking care of his plants, continues on making food, cleaning his clothes, the house and keeping maintenance on his wheelchair. And rather than enjoying what little beauty he can in the life he is forced to live, Scar only grows more paranoid than he had before, as with every hour that passes, he cheeks every door and window, cheeks every corner of his home, and makes sure to lock everything he can. As if that may stop them.

And he knows there will be a next time, as the saying goes, the first time is only an accident, the next one is a coincidence and the third is a pattern, which he knows is more than applicable to his situation. Deep down Scar knows even then he will for at least a second pretend to have Grian with him, hug him as he has every time before and pretend he is actually reunited with him this time, and only then would he call them out, or try to attack them.

Which is probably part of the reason as to why, when he sees a new “Grian” —one that has decided to look like the “Watcher” version he was shown of Grian, he does not react harshly even as like every time before this “Grian” comes running towards Scar and in a face full of fake relief, and hugs him and tells him just how glad he is he was able to find him.

And as he had said, for a second, Scar allows himself to hug back and think that this is actually Grian, who maybe it's actually a Watcher as the second impostor had said and who maybe actually didn't care that Scar had decided to do his task even as how much they isolated him, and even as much as he was kind of a villain last season.

Which then of course he follows by pulling Grian away, by giving him his best showman smile and patting his shoulders in as much of a condescending manner as Scar can manage. Before he says in a singsong tone.

“Well, chop, chop, dear impostor, I'm simply not in the mood for it, so what do you say? Same time next month?” He asks before he turns his head and gives ”Grian” the biggest fake smile, because for at least today he wants to be in control of his life.

And as Scar had expected, seeing at how last time the impostor had tried to, for at least a second, denied it. He lets “Grian” talk and talk to try to convince him it is really him.

“What? No, Scar it's really me, I swear, I don't know what they have been doing to you, but I swear on my life that it's truly me,” his hands trembled and he held Scar’s hands desperately, truly a curious strategy to take this time around. “Common, let me try to prove it to you, we need to go before they can realize I'm here!”

Scar stays silent, only giving the impostor a face of pretend compassion, he will not satisfy them with his words at all. He… Is not falling for this, he is not, and if he slaps “Grian”'s hand away just to hold on tightly into the arm rests of his chair then that's only for him to know. He is surprised that even as the minutes keep ticking and the space between them just grows more and more silent.

This “Grian” does not get that triumphant smile, or tries to get angry at him as he had the first time this happened. For the first time they manage to show Grian as desperate as Scar has been feeling all the last times this has happened. Which is truly impressive.

And then as if they knew Scar wouldn't nudge, “Grian” seems to understand that Scar won't stand down, and though looking like he is anxious, starts to fly up, and looking at where the sun stands as he screams in a voice similar to the true voice of those so-called Watchers, but that still sounds more Grian than anything else. “Stop all of this, Secret Keeper, I want to make a deal with you!”

And that makes Scar realize that maybe he was wrong, and that maybe this time, Grian had actually come to- he rolls down so he can have… Grian just on top of him as he too stared up to where he is screaming at. And surprisingly enough, in a matter of seconds from the sun a figure, bigger than three Grian stacks on top of each other, descends.

As the big figure moves towards them, Grian flies to be at Scar's side who, even if still not all that trusting, can't help but give him a helpless look, which Grian tries to respond with a reassuring smile, before the- the Secret Keeper speaks in a voice Scar knows all too well.

“What is it that you wish to deal with, Xelqua?” They ask, voice imposing and echoing all across the little island.

And Grian, he doesn't look as hopeless as Scar has felt this whole time, he does not look afraid or unsure. He looks determined as if he truly knows the solution to make Scar and him be able to be whole again, and Scar can feel a warm feeling go all through his chest as how every time on the desert when he woke up at Grian's side had felt, as if he was just where he needed and wanted to be.

“Let Scar go and in exchange I will remove my limit of the number of players we currently have and you all can choose a new member to join.” He sounds a bit salty as he said this, but over all Scar is surprised Grian seems to even have any say on what goes on in this game, as by the comments the impostors had made, he had thought only the Watchers had the controls on this matter or at least over most of it.

The Secret Keeper laughs, in that damn laugh ,that whenever Scar isn't having nightmares about Grian, he hears reminding him just how good he was at following the task he was given and how only because of that he won. And is terrifying but Scar makes his best effort to hear their response. “And how do we know you won't fight against us after the fact? You are not the most trusting of players, are you?”

And Grian seems to tremble in slight frustration, his wings growing tighter to his back, and his hands closing harshly, even though he doesn't show as much of desperation on his face as the Secret Keeper must want from him. And Scar is really starting to believe he may finally be able to be free.

And finally he says. “Just please, please accept what I offer, I know how you guys feed from our suffering, I-” he flatters for a second and then as he looks at Scar confesses through sounding very bitter of the fact, probably because of how open he is being, how vulnerable he is letting himself be seen as, which is a strange to say, but feels important at the moment. “I feed from all the suffering everyone goes through, and I also know the best way to assure that everyone can feed is to have as many people as possible”

Scar had not the mind to understand all the information being said and decided very wisely to not think about it until later once he, hopefully, would be safe and sound.

Still, the Secret Keeper seems to consider Grian's word and after a long of consideration says, as they give them a weird smile, which now that Scar take a good look, looks damn strange for the fact of how rather than having a blindfold, the Secret Keeper has a face that is covered in eyes, and with a skin that looks made out of pure light which makes his smile look all that more out of place.

“How about this, we allow for Earth to go prepare along you all a month prior to any game, and we allow for him to stay with you a month after his last death, and in the meantime he would only reside in here, where you can only visit him once every couple of months or whenever we see as fit”

And look, Scar wants to say something as at the end of the day is his destiny what Grian and the Secret Keeper are discussing, but something tells him that doing as so would not help them at all, so he stays silent and lets Grian respond as he seems fit. Hoping that he will manage to turn the tides.

“I-” he hesitates, Grian looks at Scar then at the Secret Keeper and so back and forth for a second, before he sighs defeated and answers in a truthfully annoyed voice that makes Scar feel all too much more in love with Grian. “I will accept if my visits are not longer apart than two weeks difference”

“Very well” And with a sound of success, that it's also part of the pile of nightmares that Scar has, the Secret Keeper disappears and Grian falls to the ground with a long groan. He sounds more than exhausted, his wings even reflecting said fact. And Scar can not even allow himself to be happy of the fact the Secret Keeper manage to do give him some type of mercy even after all this suffering, because right now he can only care for Grian.

It takes a second, but eventually Scar asks, still not fully processing what has happened if he had to be honest. “Grian?” And to see Grian turn to him with the most saddest of expressions is what really cements for Scar that this is his partner, his true soulmate. “Oh Grian, I'm so sorry you were forced to do that”

Grian manages to move himself enough to rest his face in Scar's lap looking as much of a disaster as he had any right to be, even if said thing should be impossible in clothing that looks to resemble the most perfect of looks one can manage. Scar pulls his fingers through his white hair, because he still does not look like himself, but even then is finally truly him.

They sulk, for a long while, and Grian manages to really explain in detail that yes, he is a watcher and that yes he is in part at fault for the games being as they are, but he does also make sure to let it be clear that he hadn't saved Scar before today only because he hadn't been able to find where he was and how, once Scar had explained the kind of terrors he had been pulled through, how sorry he was for allowing that to happen to him.

And Scar in contrast explains as they finally move inside: "Is not your fault, pretty bird, and I mean at least now I know that is really you here and that for at least this night I would have you with me" And Grian had reacted a bit too dramatic ar this comment, turning to look at Scar with a face of full confusion, which Scar responded with a chuckle.

"Uh, right, so you know early when I call you an impostor? That was because I have been getting trick by this entities who I think are call Watchers, like uhm, you mention"

Grian stops at the door, the moonlight reflecting on his beatiful wings. "The... The watchers have been tricking you?“

Scar nods and rolls to push Grian inside. "Yep, yep, but that's like... Not your fault." Grian glares and seems to want to fight him about it, but ends up sighing and just moves to sit at the dining table. And Scar moves to be at his side too, taking in his hand and saying. "I will tell you about it, but you gotta promise me not to feel guilty."

"Sure."

And so Scar did, tell him of how horrible most of his time here has been, how he has every night hoped to wake up back at home at Grian’s side in a world where they don't have to fight for their life every day. Still, by the time he finish Grian looks a bit sad, but says: "I'm sorry, even if it's not really my fault, I'm sorry."

And a couple of minutes pass, before Gruan standed up and said "I will make us some tea, so we can calm down and get some rest." But then, when he is just out of Scar's vision, he says sounding surprised. "We have spent all night talking.”

Which is true, as Scar can see the warm light of the sun starting to once again filter through the window, as well as being able to see just the multitude of reds and oranges that form because of the change from night to morning, a very beautiful sunset after all that he has gone through, after all they have gone thru together, it feels as if they maybe will be okay.

“Yeah,” Scar says and turns to look at Grian, which he may note, now looks truly like himself. “Which actually reminds me, have I asked for forgiveness for misunderstanding what was happening and accusing you of being an impostor?”

Grian smiles, and is really him, it really is. “Yeah I know, I forgive you, as I said every time before.” He starts moving now at the kitchen, seemingly not as worried as a minute before.

“And you don't think I'm too stupid for being able to be tricked easily?” Scar added, as he rolled forward to try helping too.

Grian chuckles. “No, Scar, because the Watchers can replicate me almost perfectly”

This time Scar also smiles in return and gives Grian a big kiss on the mouth before he says. “Good because I'm happy that at least this time is truly you.”
