Into You

Chapter 2

Notes:

This is lowkey different than the original premise so I decided to split it up into a separate chapter. It’s just like after Yuuji sobers up and then the domestic fluff tag really comes into play and I lowkey got carried away lol

Chapter Text

When Yuuji wakes up he has a splitting headache. He rolls around in bed, looking for Megumi, who isn’t there. He looks over at the clock on the nightstand, reading 7:34.

He usually doesn’t get up until after Yuuji, so where could he have gone? He starts to panic, but then Yuuji notices the presence of a large black dog sitting by the foot of the bed.

“Kuro! Hi! Are you a good boy?” He greets their pet affectionately. Kuro wags his tail. “Come here, up up,” Yuuji tells him, patting the bed so he’ll hop up. Kuro leaps onto the bed and starts to lick his face playfully.

“Pfft, stop that.” Yuuji shields his face with his hands. “Where’s your dad?”

As if he understands human language, Kuro jumps off the bed and goes out the door, leaving Yuuji all by himself. A few moments later, though, Kuro returns with Megumi. Maybe he does understand what people are saying!

“Hey, I got you a present.” His husband greets him. He has some headache medicine and a glass of water in his hands.

“Megumiiii!” Yuuji smiles, feeling a million times better just from the sight of him. For some reason, it feels like he hasn’t seen him in a while.

Megumi places the things in his hands on the nightstand next to Yuuji and nudges him to get up. Yuuji sits up and is immediately overwhelmed with a sensation that feels like the room is spinning. He takes a few seconds to adjust before taking the pills.

“Here, lie back down,” Megumi instructs after Yuujii finishes taking the medicine.

“You’re so bossy.” Yuuji huffs playfully, not really meaning it. Megumi rolls his eyes at him. He lies back down slowly, almost wanting to go straight back to sleep.

“Did you have fun last night?” Megumi asks after a few moments, filling the silence.

“Yeah. I don’t remember it all that much, but I remember it was fun. What about you?”

“Yeah, but not nearly as much as you, it seems.”

“Did I do something stupid again?” Yuuji asks, wincing as he recalls the time he begged some random woman for her autograph after mistaking her for Jennifer Lawrence. The situation didn’t turn out poorly, thankfully. The woman was very nice and was even flattered that he thought she could be Jennifer Lawrence (she even gave him an autograph too!), but it was still embarrassing.

“No, but you were pretty drunk.”

“What’d I do?” Yuuji asks, looking at him curiously.

“You didn’t know who I was and I think you might have forgotten we were married too.”

“Huh!?” Yuuji sits up to face him properly, ignoring the jolt of pain to his head at the sudden movement. “Megumi, you mean so much to me and I—“

“Lay the hell back down,” Megumi cuts him off. Yuuji does so, but still looks at him sadly. “I know what you’re going to say already. It’s fine. You were just out of it, that’s all.”

“Even if I was drunk I’m sorry I forgot. I’m sorryyyyyyy.”

“I told you it’s fine.” Megumi scolds him. He looks like he’s about to flick Yuuji in the head, then reconsiders, sitting down next to him instead. Yuuji immediately clings to him, burying his face into his side. Megumi puts an arm around him and holds him close.

“I love you, Megumi. I love youuuuuuuu.”

“It’s too early for you to be sappy.” Megumi remarks, but, right after he finishes speaking, gently brushes Yuuji’s hair out of his face and presses a kiss to his forehead.

“It’s never too early for me to say I love you.” Yuuji defends, tracing little shapes (mostly hearts) on Megumi’s arms.

“Love you too,” Megumi says quietly after a moment of silence, holding onto him snugly.

“Love you even if I’m drunk and I said something that implied otherwise.”

Yuuji doesn’t exactly approach the subject gracefully, but he really wants Megumi to know. Megumi can just get so insecure sometimes, so he wants to make it completely clear that Megumi is his whole world. Yuuji’s always going to be there for him and love him no matter what.

He’s completely livid with his drunk self for whatever he said. Megumi’s so important to him. He shouldn’t be forgetting him no matter how drunk he is.

“You didn’t say anything like that,” Megumi tells him with a sigh.

“You said I forgot you!”

“That’s not what I said. You didn’t forget me, you just didn’t recognize me.”

“That’s still terrible.” Yuuji whines.

“It was a little sweet, honestly.”

“How?”

“You were telling me all these nice things about “your Megumi.” You were waiting for me and asking where I was, too.” His husband’s voice is soothing to the ears.

As if that wasn’t reassuring enough, Megumi rests his hand on Yuuji’s forehead. His touch is so cold and relaxing that Yuuji nearly forgets everything he was talking about. Megumi truly deserves the best.

“Wait…since I didn’t know it was you, I didn’t tell you to sleep on the couch did I?”

“Well, no, you told me to leave. I just figured it’d be easier to sleep on the couch.”

“Noooooo, I’m the worst.” Yuuji laments. He plants kisses on Megumi’s arm apologetically.

“It’s not that big of a deal,” Megumi tells him dismissively.

Yuuji had mistakenly assumed Megumi wouldn’t attack him when he was hungover, but Megumi quits petting Yuuji’s hair softly and uses both of his hands to pinch his face mercilessly.

“Hey, what’s that for?” Yuuji asks, giggling a bit.

“That’s for calling my husband the worst,” Megumi says in a mock threatening tone, still squishing Yuuji’s cheeks like stress balls.

Undeterred by this, Yuuji continues to complain about his drunken self.

“I apparently didn’t even remember that when I was drunk.”

“You said you had a crush on me, though. Well, not on me, on “your Megumi.”” Megumi looks amused as he says this.

“I do have a crush on you.”

“What?” Megumi lets his face go and stares at him incredulously. “No, you don’t. Crushes are for people who aren’t even in relationships. We’re married.”

“Why can’t I be married to you and have a crush on you?”

“That’s just not how it works.”

“Well, I’ll be the first to do that then. Megumi, even though we’re married, I still feel all warm and fuzzy when I think of you. I think-no, I definitely have a crush on you.”

“You’re being cheesy for no reason,” Megumi grumbles, his cheeks a rosy red.

“For you, I-“

Megumi hits him in the face with a pillow before he can finish.

“Hey! You’re attacking someone who’s hungover!”

“You’re fine.”

“Kuro, your dad is beating me up! Kuro, help!” Yuuji calls out playfully.

Kuro jumps up onto the bed, wagging his tail fervently. He looks between the two of them, confused. He barks a few times, as if asking what to do.

“Quit riling him up.” Megumi scolds lightheartedly.

“Kuroooo.” Yuuji continues.

Kuro walks over, stepping all over Yuuji, then proceeds to sniff his face.

“Go get him! Go get your dad!”

“He’s never going to listen to that.”

As if he understood, their husky lies down right on top of Yuuji, like some act of pacifism.

“Dude, you’re heavy.” Yuuji groans. Kuro pays him no mind.

“Hey, what do you want for breakfast?” Megumi asks absentmindedly.

“You’re making me something?”

“What do you think, Yuuji?”

“Hmm…I think you’d be a pretty hot chef.”

“I mean I’m not very good at cooking.” Megumi rolls his eyes.

“Hey, that’s not true!”

“It’d be better if I just picked something up. What do you want?”

Yuuji smiles deviously at him.

“Do not say me.” Megumi scolds him. “I’d better not hear you say “I want you.” Only food options.”

“Aw man. What if I do want you, though?”

“I’m right here.”

“Wow, just what I wanted!”

“Do you want to eat breakfast or not?”

“Ok, ok. Maybe like…something from a bakery?”

“Like what?”

“Uhh, I don’t know. Pick for me.”

“I asked you.”

“But I don’t know.”

“You’re hopeless.”

“Yeah, but you want to go somewhere anyway, so just go there.”

Megumi sighs and ruffles Yuuji’s hair.

“I don’t really want to go that badly,” He starts, “but there’s a new café that opened a few blocks away. I heard the coffee is good, but it also has donuts and pastries; other things like that too. Is that fine?”

“That sounds awesome! Can I get whatever’s the best thing there?”

“Sure.”

Megumi takes his arm off of Yuuji and gets out of bed.

“I’m freezing to death now,” Yuuji complains.

“How am I going to get breakfast if I don’t leave?”

“Can you just leave later?”

“It won’t take long. Plus, Kuro can keep you company.” Megumi gestures to their dog, who is still sprawled out on top of Yuuji.

“I guess.” He concedes.

“Alright, I’ll be back soon.” Megumi gives him a quick kiss goodbye.

“Bye! I love you!”

“I love you too.”

Yuuji smiles to himself, running a hand through Kuro’s fur. He’s excited for when Megumi gets back because then they’ll have breakfast together. He loves their mornings together, where they talk about whatever they felt like talking about. Though he’d cling to every word, the content of their conversations didn’t matter much, not in comparison to the gleeful sensation that stemmed from simply being around each other.

Love. There just simply isn’t another word for it. It lines the walls in the form of framed pictures, it curls up by the door as two pairs of shoes, it makes itself at home in their apartment and at home in Yuuji’s heart, and it takes a human form bearing the name Megumi.

I love him, Yuuji thinks fondly. He’s thought it before and he’ll think it again. In fact, Megumi better hurry home because he wants to tell him again, too.
