Wade's happy to say he's finally found a real friend. [Well, found him in an abandoned building, half-frozen and still trying to cut Wade's hand off because he wouldn't stop poking him.]
It's nice though, having someone around who actually wants him. Needs him, even, because Wade's new friend isn't in the best shape. It's nice to be needed. And he doesn't even mind it when Wade has to put a bullet in the occasional head.
It's almost like having a dog, if a dog could go out and fetch chimichangas for dinner. Well, on a good day at least. And on the bad days, Wade doesn't even mind it when his new friend stabs him in the chest or breaks a couple of bones or anything.
Because Wade...well, he knows something about torture and experiments and being driven insane.
And he doesn't care if Captain America is his idol or not, Wade's not giving up his new friend for nothing.

Steve and Bucky are experimenting on different ways to help Bucky regain his memories, and Steve reintroduces Bucky to their favorite childhood candy.
Valomilk!
And when it runs down your chin, you know it's a Valomilk!
Cue someone(s) walking in to see Steve relaxing back on the couch with a big goofy grin on his face, and Bucky sitting next to him with white goo still on his lips and chin, AND ALL THE WRONG CONCLUSIONS!
And if you want a dash of angst for the hell of it, you can add in some "WTF Steve he's in no mental state to be consenting to that shit?!"

The people of the internet follow Steve (and Bucky) on his journey of revenge and reunions. And offer support in their own special way.
(Tony loves it, because twitter is a lot easier to use than running facial recognition through security systems around the world. Clint starts a kink meme and opens a tumblr account.)
"@Prague, just saw Captain America beat the shit out of someone in the middle of the street. #roaring rampage of revenge #you go hydra hunter"
"Just bought a vet with a metal arm a coffee. Gee, wonder who he was. ;)"
│
│"You bought the Winter Soldier a coffee?!"
│
│ │"Noooo, I bought Bucky Barnes a coffee. Fuck off, you troll!""Someone really needs to tell the Captain that Clark Kent glasses and a baseball cap, does not a disguise make. And that Instagram kinda blew his 'covert' operation a while ago and reddit says Bucky's in Ontario getting free maple cookies. #captain america #international stalking"

Steve always started the fights, but Bucky was the one who finished them.
That was true on the streets of Brooklyn and the school yard; on the battlefield and throughout Europe. And it remains true now.
It's a shame no one ever warned Hydra of that.
(Also, the government should probably stop 'requesting' that Steve come in for 'questioning.' If they know what's good for them...)
((Can be dark, angsty, fluffy, cracky, whatever.))

Summary
Think this would probably be sometime before Winter Soldier, but you can squeeze it in anywhere along the movies' timeline.
At some point in their schooling, every kid ends up taking a field trip to the graves of the Howling Commandos. Bucky's memorial has always been one of the most popular, arguably even more popular than Captain America's monument now that Steve's, you know, not dead and the monument is kinda inaccurate.
The children make paper flowers and decorate the engraved stone, taping drawings and thank you cards they make themselves to it.
Steve's touched and appreciates it and loves that his friend isn't forgotten in the annals of history, and is dealing with it all pretty well... Until he sees what's written on one of the cards/drawings.
Bonus points if there's someone, or many someones, around to witness Steve's reaction.
