"Yeah, yeah. I've got a lovely villa on a beach booked for my husband and I, right." He pushes a hand through his sweaty hair, shoving it out of his face. "We're headed there tomorrow, straight from here, and I can't wait."
He doesn't even realize what he's said until he sees the interviewer's shocked face, and the curious glances from everyone who's been listening in nearby.

He'd not have found out that he actually is quite smart when he works for it, and that he can make proper friends who don't just follow him around because they think he's the shit. He'd not have found the sense of freedom and independence and normalcy that he's come to enjoy.
Going to uni was the right thing to do, and now he's off to work a job he loves, and he never has to fucking worry about scoring goals ever again. Life is perfect, he's quite sure.

Roy realizes in a split second that Jamie is made up of a thousand tiny instances that Roy has never witnessed. And he's not the selfish prick that Roy painted him out to be.
"Things start to improve. It’s a slow gradual pace, but it’s better than nothing, and Roy stops ignoring him. Ted still keeps on with his eternal cheeriness and his team starts inviting him places again. He goes to the pub with Isaac and Dani and the black hole feels a little smaller that night. And he thinks he can survive like this.
He’s learned his lesson this time, he really has. He’s not going to push for more than he deserves and he’s not going to pretend he deserves the same love that the rest of the team does. He so thoroughly burned that bridge it’s nothing but ashes. You can’t build shit out of ashes."

Roman, Link, and Janie go back and forth for five minutes crafting the perfect pitch, and Roman can feel Mencken watchng him as he talks. He's hot under the collar in the weirdest way as he tries to talk past the tension building inside of him, and he's more heated, passionate, though he controls himself before he gives away any agitation to the table. He can't afford to have the campaign think he's loony the first day.
"Local businesses," Roman says, and his voice stays steady, thank fuck. "One small, one big, whoever opens their doors to us. We film both sides. We tell the world it's not either-or. We change the game in your favor." He glances at Mencken, whose gaze is tight on him. "Janie can have something for us to start filming tomorrow. I'll find the businesses and get you in touch with them, Jeryd. It's important they talk to you."
"Okay." Mencken straightens as their food is brought in. "I buy it. Let's do it."
