Summary
The voice that greeted him was clearly male and spoke in crisp clear English with an odd almost elitist accent that drew along the edges of his words. “Mr. Muller I presume?”
“Who's asking?” Jake challenged cautiously in return as he inspected the man over. Meticulously sizing him up as he searched for any sign of a weapon that he could spot. He had a feeling the man was doing the same in return.
“You may call me Orion Arklay.” The man tilted his head towards Jake as if in a show of respect as he continued. “I'm here to escort you safely out of the country.”
“Escort me?” Jake scoffed in disbelief as this Orion guy strolled casually towards him. “I think you've got the wrong idea pal. Typically people pay me to escort them around here.”
“Hm.” He got the sudden feeling this Orion guy was giving him a judgemental look. “I do suppose you look the type.” The sarcastic line hit home as Jake bristled at the joking and somewhat daring comment. He was willing to let the bastard have that one considering Jake did walk right into it.

Summary
Titan Spinner was acting unusual and Zeno was given orders by the scientists -as arrogant of a decision as that was on their part- to go investigate why the bioweapon’s behavior had abruptly changed. He was not pleased with this new directive, and given the lucrative nature of the bioweapon in question, his superiors in The Connections backed the decision. He ultimately had no say.
Again.
Grinding his teeth in displeasure, Zeno wilted beneath the demands with the relief that at least this promised him a little more freedom and far less supervision yet again.

Summary
Eivor pulled one of the heavy woollen drapes across over the archway, and the buzz of voices from the great hall softened. He sat down on the sea-chest against the inner wall, stretching his legs, and said "I thought you might prefer the quiet."
Hytham perched against the edge of the table, gazing into the middle distance, and said "The work of the Hidden Ones gives us enough quiet to drown in. Even when I hunt in a crowd, I am alone." He looked up at Eivor on the last few words, and a smile flashed briefly and entirely unexpectedly over his face. "It's good to have company."
