At 184 miles per hour, Max Verstappen's car hits the barrier and his world goes dark. The crash report later records a speed of 380G—higher than any documented survivable incident in motorsport history.
While the FIA asks questions and the media chases headlines, Charles Leclerc spirals. After all, he and Max were never supposed to be anything more than rivals who fell into bed together. It's not possible for them to ever be anything else.
But as the hours stretch into days and Max remains unconscious, the careful walls Charles built begin to crumble and he can finally admit that what they shared stopped being casual long ago. The residents seem kind as well when they first add him to the apartment building's groupchat. That was, of course, until his ex-boyfriend (and current co-parent to the most adorable puppy on the planet!) is suddenly typing in the chat.
It is quite classic for him, he supposed, to cause chaos on his first day.

“If there’s two hits left, we’d each only get one,” Mike explains. “But if we shotgunned, we’d both get two.” God, this is the best idea he’s had in ages. He should’ve stolen Will’s weed, like, months ago. “That’s like, bang for your buck. This is simple math, Will Byers. Keep up.”
In which it’s well past midnight in New York, Will can’t sleep, and Mike feels like they barely know each other anymore.

So Will brushed back, just barely. Testing. Flirting. Mike inhaled softly, the faintest noise escaping him. And then he spoke like he was physically unable to stay silent any longer.
“Will? If… if that boy you like…” he was standing so close that Will could feel the warmth of him against the cold air. “…If you ever wanted to tell him…”
Will felt his breath stop.
“…I think he’d want to know.”

He’s got on that thinking-face he does— the one that tells Will that Mike has definitely been staring at him for the past ten minutes minimum, trying to wrap his brain around some idea or another, like he’s working out a particularly difficult puzzle.
“Like, what do you like about them? Oh, come on, don’t look at me like that,” he complains, and Will assumes he must be making a face somewhere between skeptical and bewildered. “We never talk about it. Why is it boys for you?”
