Summary
AU where Nick never managed to switch out the serum with blueberries. Bellwether hit Judy accidentally before shooting Nick. They were supposed to go savage. Instead, Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps regress into a non-violent primal state. Instinct draws them together instead of tearing them apart.
When they wake up, they struggle to put the missing pieces of what happened together – the whole world believes they are lovers.
Note: Characters engage in intimacy while under the influence of a fictional serum. The event is portrayed as mutual and is not written as sexual assault, but characters DO address the topic. The story explores emotional consequences afterward. I have tagged the work "Chose Not to Use Archive Warnings" for this reason. Rated E for sexual themes and eventual sex.

A wounded Judy Hopps has been living as a servant, unable to remember anything about herself until her former partner rescues her...she doesn't even know his name, she has forgotten their entire shared history and to top it all off, he's a fox.
Nick just wants his best friend back because it is all he dares to desire.

She didn't have to, she didn't have to do anything, but she wanted to. Judy Hopps didn't just survive the ZPA, she excelled, but the city she loves was tearing itself apart. It was the worst time to be the first bunny cop in Zootopia, and her attempts to make the world a better place ran afoul of plans years in the making. You know the story, she exposed the mayor and saved the city... right? It only cost her a friend.
World-weary and drifting, a fox was running on autopilot. He didn't need to hustle, but he hustled to keep himself from falling back into a world he'd been kicked out of years ago. His 'same shit, different day' world was rudely interrupted by a mammal he frankly didn't see coming, and it awoke something within him he thought long buried. It all seemed too good to be true, they found the missing mammals, stopped the bad guy, and he was set to join her in the light... Then she betrayed him. Could he forgive her?
Neither knew when she came back that they were both riding the tail end of the leading front of the coming storm.

While Olivia Wilde felt nothing but joy for her son's new step in his life, the lack of physical intimacy has left her more than wanting.
Six months following the last time they were intimate with one another, Nick decides it's time to introduce his girlfriend to his mother. While Judy Hopps worries over making a first impression on Olivia, the two foxes worry about her discovering the physical bond they used to share. Mother and son stumble over their words to avoid unconsciously flirting with each other, but Judy's detective experience on the ZPD is going to make it difficult for them to keep it under wraps.Proofreading done as always by Steel Quill
