“I don’t know,” He finds himself staring at another picture. Max is laughing brightly, to the point where his eyes are crinkled, and his mother is smiling too. There is a navy cap on her head: it is a Red Bull cap. Max’s Red Bull cap. “It’s just hard to imagine, I think.”
Pascale looks at him. For a moment it is an odd look. But that quickly melts into a smile. One that is gentle around the eyes, and soft on the mouth. Somehow, it makes Charles feel young again — younger than how he already feels; twenty-one in a world where he is twenty-five.
“You don’t have to imagine it, mon garçon,” she says quietly. “It has already happened.”

Tony paused mid-sentence, eyes darting to the crowd. Everyone's heads were turning left and right with confusion, wondering who the hell would boo Iron Man. He continued, "To international concerns over unsanctioned actions and consequences by—"
"This guy sucks!"
"—enhanced individuals and members of the Avengers to create a system of accounta—"
"Show us your tits!"
"Okay, who the hell—" Tony gave up and lifted a hand above his eyes, blocking the light to see the crowd better. His eyes scanned each person's face, trying to locate the shit that kept interrupting his speech, and followed everyone's gazes to the ceiling. He froze as his eyes fell on a red and blue clad vigilante sitting in the beams.
Spider-Man looped his legs around the beam he was on and swung to hang upside down. Cupping his gloved hands around his mouth, he shouted, "Tell a joke!"

OR: The Accords dehumanize and discriminate against enhanced individuals. Spider-Man isn’t very happy about this. (Spider-Man happens to also be a foster kid who is in dire need of a mentor.)

Spencer squints. Hotch is certainly acting a little weird. He’s not sure why. He’s being… soft. Soft is the best word for it, he decides, as he searches his boss up and down. The job he’s done to his wrists isn’t as bad as Spencer’s, but he still shrinks back at the blood dripping down his forearms, staining his white shirt cuffs. Spencer racks his brain for where his suit jacket had gone and can only scrounge up the memory of Hotch entering the conference room at the police station, doing his best to roll up his sleeves.
It’s odd. Hotch doesn’t roll up his sleeves. He doesn’t laugh at Spencer’s jokes.
“Is everything okay?” Spencer finds himself asking, without thinking about it.
Hotch deflates. “Reid-”
And then the door opens.

As I was bleeding out on my kitchen floor. You. Didn’t. Answer.”
