“Don’t be stupid, Connor, he—uh, he says that every fuckin’ day. ‘I’m killing myself’ is how Roman says hello,” deadpans Kendall. Roman and Shiv snicker; Connor took him seriously? Pathetic. This is why Dad thinks Connor’s weak.
“…Oh,” says Connor. “Okay.” Silence again. “Well…well, guys, speaking as someone who went through this when Dad met your mom, my advice is to just make the best of it.”

“Same here,” Pete pants. Now that he is finally immobile does he truly begin to feel the aching in his legs and feet.
“Let’s just—just sit here for awhile.”

“Yes.” Kris pressed her hands against their chest. They smiled in a way that failed to be reassuring. Each desperate breath shuddering through their lungs confirmed everything Susie didn't want to know. “S’fine. It’s okay.”
Kris burned like a charred pan straight out of the oven, or an oil fire stoked by liquor. Susie reeled away. “You—you were trying to set me up,” Susie accused, trying to edge words around the chasm opening in her gut. “You were trying to get me to hit you.”
Kris wants Susie to hurt them. They need her to hurt them. Susie isn't as on board with the idea as they are.

"Kris…" she says. The nervousness on her face is mixed with something close to relief.
But you love Susie. You enjoy going on adventures with her, you enjoy talking to her, you enjoy her personality and character development. She's your favorite, after all.
So even though Kris, your Puppet and Cage, asks you to please leave her alone, your legs take one step closer to her.

A set of eyes gazed up at him, oozing the crimson in which they emphasized so greatly. Shinji looked back, lips parted and line of vision scurrying over every detail. From the brighter tips of his hair to the playful, ominous light his features often bathed in, Shinji couldn’t detect anything imperfect about Kaworu.
He was simply flawless, perhaps knowing such as a smile played at his lips. A smile which made Shinji want to kiss him — something he’d never quite wanted to do before now.
