“Bloody hell! What in the world do you think you’re doing, Jekyll?” Utterson thrusted himself around to glare at the perpetrator in his bed. The doctor looked at him, only mildly perturbed at Utterson’s unexpected fit, and pulled the blankets around them.
“As you said, I am a medical authority here, and it is my job to make sure everybody in this regiment survives.” He wrapped his arms around Utterson, and despite his own shock, the lawyer only tried to squirm away once, relenting quickly. “You, in my medical opinion, are on the verge of hypothermia, Colonel. The only cure we have, and every soldier is using downstairs, is the exchange of body heat. Perfectly natural, really. Now stop being such a dead battery and stay still, you’ll let the warmth out.”

Before the lawyer could offer protest he was pulled into a closet on the far side of the room, which from the sound of it was then locked behind.
“Harry, this is ridiculous--”
“Shhh!” Henry insisted.
“Why don't you simply tell Richard you're not fit to speak on matters of business?”
Admittedly that would have been the simpler choice. Perhaps it was the excitement of it, the way it reminded him of the mischief he pulled in his youth. Perhaps it was simply the effects of the gin clouding an otherwise brilliant mind. For whatever reason he had chosen this approach instead.

He’s been preparing for this day since he knew he wanted to help lead a group of soldiers; he knows it’s his duty to marry the CO to whom he is assigned. But he’s always longed for a marriage based on love, not just duty. He’d always dreamed that one day he would marry someone who he utterly adores, someone who he never wants to live without. Someone he can laugh with, who shares his interests in cricket and nature, someone who he can share a gentle stroll with and who makes him utterly happy -
But they’re at war now.
Anthony knows he needs to put these fantasies aside for the good of his country. He has no idea what the Captain of Button House is like, and while he can certainly hope that they share some things in common and might get along quite nicely, he must not allow himself to believe that this is anything more than a strategic marriage, as all military marriages are. He is marrying this man to better serve his country, and that’s all that matters.

sillies aside, I love this, it's adorable, it's sweet, and also a breath of fresh air when it comes to the heaviness of homophobia in the actual canon, while still keeping their characterisations accurate. overall great fic!!
