Summary
Katara is the daughter of the Southern Water Tribe’s chief, raised in the aftermath of war. With her mother dead and her father returned from the frontlines missing a hand, she has learned early what duty demands. Now, at the age when daughters are meant to be wed, her future is offered to her in the form of Sen—a respected warrior, honorable and kind. Her father believes marriage will keep her safe. She is placed under the command of General Zuko—a banished Fire Nation prince who turned against his own country and now leads with relentless discipline. Katara finds him harsh, demanding, and deeply irritating in his refusal to soften, even as he pushes his men to survive. Yet as battles are fought and losses mount, she begins to see what lies beneath his severity—and something like understanding, then kinship, takes root.

Summary
Sydney had thought that once she finally gave Shapiro her answer, things would finally fall into place. The restaurant was finally making a (small) profit, her dish got rave reviews, the team was settling into their own respective roles, nobody had quit in over two months, and Marcus' nomination was only the cherry on top.
For the first time, she'd let herself believe that everything was going to be okay. She could finally see the light at the end of this long and strenuous tunnel.
And then Pete called.
And the news hit her hard. Like that light at the end of the tunnel was actually just a train coming straight to hit her.
Now the whole thing feels like a nightmare she can't wake up from.
She stares down at her prep notes, trying to concentrate, but it's like her brain can't focus on anything. All she can think about is this place without Carmy in it and how wrong it'll feel without him.
