Summary
He’s not new to Eddie’s feelings. He knows them like the back of his hand, has watched Eddie bury so much throughout the years until it all came boiling out like hot lava. He was there when the volcano erupted, watched as Eddie’s life fell apart around him. Thought he’d be the one to help pick up the pieces, but that wasn’t a role Eddie seemed to want him to take.
When Eddie made the decision to go to Texas, the ground opened up and Buck fell straight in. He feels like he’s been clawing his way out ever since. Eddie made so many decisions without even talking to Buck, and he knows he doesn’t have a right to Eddie’s every waking thought, he just thought Eddie would want to share those things with him, the same way he wants to share everything with Eddie.
Sometimes he thinks he’s still trapped in that kitchen.

Summary
Steve kisses him on a Thursday and he takes all the air in the room with him. Eddie doesn’t close his eyes. He’s too shocked to do much of anything, except sit there and let Steve take his face in those big hands and caress a thumb over his cheek while he presses their lips together. Eddie’s pretty sure he doesn’t move at all, glued to his spot on the couch, as if time has continued on around him while he’s stuck there.
And something turns in Eddie’s gut.

Summary
Steve’s always been generous with gifts. Growing up, he had access to money that allowed him to dote upon his friends and loved ones. His ex hated it, said he was flaunting his money, but Steve just liked showing people he cared. It wasn’t about the price of the gift, it was about how he listened and remembered their interests. It just benefited him that he never had to worry about the cost.
There’s no way he’s going to let this year be the first year he lets someone down.

Summary
He doesn’t remember the family that used to live here. It’s on the side of town he doesn’t venture to often. No one’s seen or heard from the Harringtons in years. Gareth’s mom got this look on her face when they brought it up. Said the man that owned the house was cruel and that she went to high school with the mom, but wouldn’t say much else. They tried to do some research on the place, but the only thing Eddie found was the property record for one Richard Harrington.
It’s hard to say whether anything sinister happened in the places they visit. It’s even harder to know if those sinister things are keeping spirits from moving on. They can do all the research they want on a place, but it doesn’t unlock all the secrets within. That’s the part that fascinates Eddie. That something could’ve happened in these places and maybe they’ll be the ones to unearth it.

Summary
Eddie keeps hearing strange sounds coming from the woods. Whispers on the wind that sound like chanting. His job as an overnight groundskeeper for the local cemetery doesn’t pay him well enough to deal with supernatural shit. He's convinced the woods are haunted.
There's something there, ghostly or otherwise. Eddie knows he's not crazy. And then the bodies start moving.

Summary
He has roughly fifteen minutes of soccer left.
He could just sit here and watch the game like a normal person.
Or.
“It’s actually been kind of a rough year for them,” he says, letting his voice drop a little. Sun Hat Lady immediately leans in closer. “Like, they almost didn’t make it.”
“Oh no,” she breathes. “Oh, honey.”
“Yeah, it was… I mean, I don’t want to get into it.” He absolutely wants to get into it. “But basically, Theo— my little brother, number seven, the one who keeps—”
A whistle blows. Theo’s committed another foul. This one might actually be assault — Chris isn’t a legal expert but Theo basically used that kid as a speed bump.
“—doing that. So, Theo wasn’t planned. And when my dad, the blonde one, told my other dad, it was like…” Chris exhales wearily, having seen too much. “They were struggling. Communication issues. You know how it is.”
Sun Hat Lady nods gravely. She knows how it is.
Or,
Sometimes you have to make up a story and involve some soccer moms to get your stupid dad and his stupid best friend to kiss.Bookmarked by rebelspykatie

Summary
It had started off as a joke. Eddie had found some old motivational stickers digging through Chris’ old schoolwork he had saved from back when he was in elementary school. Most of the sticker sheets had been used up, but a few still had a couple “Nice Work!”, “Good Job!”, or “Radical!” stickers on them. He had slipped them in his pocket and forgotten about them until he was sitting down with Buck and Chris for dinner.
Buck had baked some chicken and tried out his own blend of herbs and spice that, quite honestly, blew Eddie away that Buck had just been seasoning by taste and feel. When Buck had turned to look at Eddie to ask how he liked it, instead of responding he peeled off a sticker that said “Out of This World!” and stuck it to Buck’s forehead.
---
Or, Eddie starts giving Buck motivational stickers every chance he can, Buck has a bit of a priase kink, and Eddie is just a supportive best bro who is most definitely heterosexual.

Summary
“So is it Dad or Buck?”
Maddie blinks. “What?”
“Is it Dad or Buck?” Chris repeats. Chim and Maddie share a look. “Come on, it’s not hard to figure out. Something bad happened, that’s why Chimney is home early and you were just whisper-fighting in the kitchen. You’re sitting me down to tell me something, so whatever happened probably didn’t happen to Hen or Ravi or Harry, so. Dad or Buck?”
“It’s–” Chim starts and then stops himself. He moves and sits next to Chris and okay, maybe he was a little flippant before but now he’s starting to feel freaked out. “It’s both of them, Chris.”
Or, Buck and Eddie are both seriously injured on a call. Christopher waits for them both to recover, and copes with the possibility of losing the family they all worked so hard to build.

Summary
Eddie huffs, sounding annoyed, but he doesn’t retract. “You know what your problem is, Buckley?”
Buck gives him an unimpressed look, then smiles coldly, “No. I don’t, actually,” he says, shrugging. “Why don’t you enlighten me, hm?”
“You’re spoiled,” Eddie snaps.
(Or, Buck gets into the LAFD Academy, and he’s sure the next few months are going to be great. Then, to his dismay, he meets his obnoxious asshole of a roommate, Eddie. Naturally, they fall in love.)

Summary
“She said she wasn’t worried about us breaking up.”
Oh. Well. That was pretty definitively a thing that people said about partners who were together romantically.
“Say something,” Buck instructed.
“What?”
“Anything,” Buck said, his voice wavering on the word. Which was—it was weird, right? Why was Buck so shaken by a throwaway comment?
Or maybe the better question was why wasn’t Eddie? If either of them was going to get freaked out by the assumption that he was dating a man, it would make more sense for it to be Eddie, who was straight, and not Buck, who had, in fact, already dated men.
“Aren’t you going to be late for your shift?”
-----
Buck and Eddie get shaken up by a comment from Theo’s social worker, and then by a magnitude 7 earthquake; it turns out, some disasters are better than others.
