Monty had a well-loved Christmas jumper pulled over his white polo shirt instead of his blazer. It was undeniably homemade, made of green and red wool, likely one of the garments made by his grandmother that she’d packed for him. Most of the boys had started swapping out parts of their St. Churnley’s uniform for warmer bits and pieces ever since the 1st of December and the staff had given up with trying to enforce the dress code as the holidays drew closer.
“What day is it?”
“Tuesday.”
“No, I mean, uh, what’s the date.”
“Oh, the 9th I think.”
Edgar groaned. They had another 2 weeks of this – 3 if the festivities went on into the New Year and they likely would.
“Just wake me up in January.”

The boys don't go home for the holidays. It's a hard time of the year for them all, with Edgar mourning Poe, Monty worrying about the anniversary of the day he first transformed, Roland missing his family during their winter yule and Kevin grappling with the fear of an upcoming recital. Somehow they make it work.

50 degrees. The weather app displayed 50 degrees for almost the whole day in Torrance. Not that Herman should complain, there are far worse temperatures in other places. But it's Torrance. It should not be that cold. Cold weather has never been his favorite. Having water powers meant he ran quite a bit colder than his peers, which was great in the summer where he could be out and about in a shift with no issues. But once winter comes, he and his grandma would be shivering messes. 'I gotta get up'

Herman didn’t get sick often since his water powers would essentially wash all sorts of bacteria away. However, it didn’t make him immune to all illnesses ever. It just meant that whenever he got sick, it hit him twice as hard since his body wasn't accustomed to being ill.
So that was where he was; sweating profusely on his plastic-covered bed, practically flooding his room. All while his grandma was downstairs cooking some soup. He could smell the rich scent of beef broth and boiling potatoes, making his stomach grumble. All because of a slight fever.
In which Waterboy is sick and Flambae begrudgingly goes to check on him. He gets more than he bargains for.
