    Summary

A collection of all the stories in Traveling Thieves, which is my Dark Fantasy, Hybrid Slavery, super angsty AU that spawned from my Whumptober 2023 prompt fills! Currently in semi-chronological order except for the first fic in the series, which will always be “I see the danger, it’s written there in your eyes” which if anyone does want to read the series in chronological order, I’d like them to start there! ^-^ I also occasionally place some stories in specific locations that I think work best for the reading order that aren't exactly where they'd be timeline-wise!

WARNING: THIS IS A WHUMP-CENTRIC, ANGST-CENTRIC, HURT/COMFORT (SOMETIMES NO COMFORT) DARK FANTASY AU.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read the tags before you dive into any stories of this one, this series is intended to be a place for me to try my hand at writing and exploring some darker themes.

There will be plenty of happy times in this, too, though! It's not all doom and gloom, I promise! I hope you'll enjoy!

Ask me about the series, world building, future planning, or just come say hi! @amethystfairy1

    Summary

The insurmountable sound of the roof caving in, the support beams failing, and the marble decorations shattering around him seemed to stop all at once. There was nothing but silence. Cold, abrupt, threatening silence.

As quickly as it had begun, the disaster simply ceased.

“Woah,” an unknown voice chimed, echoing through the rubble. A man smiled down at him, his expression bordering somewhere between surprised and amused. “You’ve caused quite a bit of chaos here, haven’t you?”

After accidentally wreaking havoc inside a temple in the woods, Grian finds himself indebted to a god he doesn't know, as well as a strange man who calls himself the temple's priest.

    Summary

No, Gem wasn't mad at him for that.

She was angry with Santa for a completely different reason, thank you very much. What idiot parks the magical sleigh needed to carry everyone's presents in a no parking zone?
Gem set her pen against the form and looked up at the woman working behind the desk in the tiny office, the blue light from her… computer, Gem thought, reflecting off her face.

The woman looked about ready to fall asleep, with circles under her eyes and a slumped posture that could only speak of utter defeat. A tiny string of Christmas lights hung off the front of her desk, half of the bulbs broken and the rest flickering with their last feeble attempts at life.
As Gem watched, the woman unhooked the lights, tossing them into the trash can near the wall.

    Gem stared in horror.

Or: When Grian (Santa Clause) gets his sleigh towed, Gem has to get it back. Besides dealing with the difficulty of working with the NYC tow lot, Gem accidentally becomes an accomplice to the kidnapping of the woman who works there.

    Summary

Grian presumed his soul was actively leaving his body – providing him with just another last minute delusion to take him into the next life - until he heard music.

His tired delusions were a lot of things, but they were never music.

Grian blinked, once, twice, then a third time. Still, the shape on the horizon didn’t fade. The light didn’t fade. The music didn’t fade. This wasn’t the blurry shadow of what may or may not be a rock, or the light of the moon against a wave imitating a town. This was a genuine miracle. This was his relief.

    It was a ship!

    - or -

After being cursed by a witch, Grian finds himself stuck in the form of a parrot with no way to change back, and only a conveniently handsome pirate captain to rely on until he reaches land.
