Summary
Grian is a Scarlet Macaw avian who worked with the Guild, a government organization who works under an unknown high power. Accepting jobs from civilians, royalty and more. Scar is a lonely wizard who collects "trinkets" who lives (mostly) by himself on a mountain. When Grian accepts a quest to find the Gem of Life, it leads him to the very wizard himself where he makes a deal to live with him as long as he stops working for the guild to avoid imprisonment. Naturally, shenanigans and angst ensues.

His eyes were a bright, vibrant red, gone from the natural burnt color they normally were. There was a smear of blood across his bottom lip and Mumbo’s attention shifted from Grian’s hand — now clean of any of his blood — and down to Grian’s face.
“That’s it, see, I’m right here, just listen to me okay?” Grian cooed softly, his heart hammering against his ribs.
Mumbo placed a tender, almost reverent kiss to the pulsepoint on Grian’s wrist, and his instincts snapped in an instant.

A collection of all the stories in Traveling Thieves, which is my Dark Fantasy, Hybrid Slavery, super angsty AU that spawned from my Whumptober 2023 prompt fills! Currently in semi-chronological order except for the first fic in the series, which will always be “I see the danger, it’s written there in your eyes” which if anyone does want to read the series in chronological order, I’d like them to start there! ^-^ I also occasionally place some stories in specific locations that I think work best for the reading order that aren't exactly where they'd be timeline-wise!

What surprised him a little is that he wasn't scared, not even a little bit, that the face of the man he had said goodbye to less than an hour ago was staring back at him on a wanted poster. He was kind of expecting this to happen at some point, which made the situation even more humorous.
basically, what if Atsushi and Akutagawa meet before they know who the other is, and get the chance to form a connection before they get told they are enemies.
this fic was partially born because I believe Akutagawa will crumble at the slightest bit of kindness anyone is willing to give him. (poor baby needs a hug)
