He finds a deep, inadequate misery towards himself at everything he does, too young to fully process these emotions, and Mom not the kind to address them. They would fade eventually, if he had ample distraction - toys, TV, other children, real school, but he has none of those things, and so the feelings could only fester: at a point, all he can do to cope is attempt to compartmentalize them, use his imagination like Dad taught him to escape the troubles of the real world.

Summary
The Lord of Shades had finally defeated The Radiance. Now the Void Given Focus prepared itself to return to Hallownest, where the rest of its family and companions awaited its return. However, its plans were interrupted by the glow of a white flower.
Since then, the Shade Lord has been trapped inside Godhome without a way to return. Determined to reach Hallownest one way or another, the God used the Essence that The Radiance had released upon death and its own Awoken Dream Nail to escape Godhome and venture into the Dream Realm beyond.
It lacked the abilities to navigate this place, but that would not stop the Shade Lord from learning how to. Given time, it would find its way back. Meanwhile however, perhaps it should explore the dreams that lay here? One such dream caught the God's attention. One that was big in size and held lots of power inside.
Although the Shade Lord didn't know it at the time, that dream belonged to a small human child trapped inside a golden chest. That kid's name? Isaac Moriah.

He could even feel himself shake and glitch out (it felt almost like his skin was being torn off and put back on over and over again). The computer put on a loading bar, and he watched it go forward before reaching the very edge and stopping right before completing.
‘[BOINK!]’ he cursed as he reached out and shook the console.
The bar held still for an agonizing minute, in which Kinger could feel his insides being mixed up, a painful, nauseating feeling, but he held his ground and kept his eyes locked onto the computer screen.
‘For the love of God please,’ he said and smacked it with his hand. The bar finally moved and dinging sounded, not only from the computer, but from seemingly everywhere around him. The glitching stopped, and Kinger breathed a sigh of relief as everything stilled.”
