Huntrix’s music still rang in their ears as the five Saja Boys stood before the sealed Honmoon. The crushing weight of their failure pressed down on Jinu’s shoulders like a physical force.
“No.” Abby’s voice was stunned, disbelieving. His muscular frame went rigid, every defined muscle coiling tight under his skin. He lunged forward, slamming his fists against the barrier. The impact echoed around them, but the golden surface held firm. “No, no, no—”
“They can’t have won. We were so close!” Romance’s hands roamed the golden light, hissing where it burned the skin of his fingertips. “There has to be a way to reverse this. There has to—”

The Saja Boys failed their mission at Namsan and were banished back to the demon realm. Jinu thought that giving his soul to Rumi meant he would be free...

He’d expected it to taste terrible, just like every other thing AM had provided for sustenance. But it was smooth and cool and tasteless, sliding down his aching throat and prompting a groan. He thought he felt something spasm in his mind - but it was gone a moment later. He drank great, hungry mouthfuls, almost choking in his desperation to suck it all into his gullet, and when his thirst had subsided enough for him to realise he could use this as an opportunity to drown himself, the pool disappeared.
He licked his lips.
AM said nothing. The silence was unnerving. Had it no commentary for this, no mockery? Ted stared up at the sky like a supplicant beneath the gaze of a god, and received no answer.
AM devises a new way to torment Ted.
