Into You

Summary:

“Basically, Megumi is just amazing.” Yuuji continues to ramble. “I have a huge crush on him.”

For some reason, Other-Megumi finds this very funny.

“You have a crush on “your Megumi”?” He asks, still snickering a little bit.

“Yeah, I do!” Yuuji says proudly, not embarrassed in the slightest. “You’ve met him, haven’t you? You should get it. And I’ve just been telling you all this stuff about him. He’s lovely. So what’s so funny about what I said?”

“I just think you’re very drunk.”

/ Yuuji gets totally shitfaced but luckily a kind stranger called Megumi takes him home.

Notes:

I’ve never been drunk before because I’m underage so if this is totally inaccurate then my bad.

Chapter Text

Yuuji might possibly have had a few too many drinks tonight and that was saying a lot. Yuuji’s alcohol tolerance was pretty damn high, he’s only been drunk like twice maybe, which is a lot less than the number of times he’s been drinking. Tonight, though, it seems he may have overestimated that amount by a little bit. No, a lot bit…if that was even a saying.

He honestly doesn’t even remember how this happened. He loosely remembers getting into a drinking competition with…Maki? Yeah, that sounds right.

He couldn’t tell if the room was spinning or if he was but, either way, he didn’t quite mind. He was having a great time. Being drunk was pretty nice actually, he felt all warm and floaty. He should do this more often.

The music is fun too. He nearly gets up on a table to dance like he’d seen in a movie once, it sounded pretty fun, but he’s stopped as soon as he gets a foot in the air.

“Ok, let’s get you home.” A pretty stranger tells him off.

The stranger is a bit shorter than he is, has dark hair that’s unruly but in a charming way, striking green eyes, and just overall looks like a painting from like…a museum. A really fancy museum. Wow. Yuuji frantically shakes his head back and forth like a cartoon character to dispel the thoughts.

This guy must have walked over to Yuuji at some point. Or maybe he was here the whole time? Yuuji isn’t quite sure. His brain feels like soup, warm and goopy in his head.

“Who’re you?” Yuuji decides to ask.

“You’re totally wasted.” The stranger sighs.

“No, I’m Yuuji Itadori. And I asked who you are, not who I am.”

“Megumi.” He answers with a sigh. The name makes Yuuji feel butterflies in his stomach. “Now, let’s say bye and go home.”

“Your name is Megumi? That’s funny, I know a guy named Megumi too.” Yuuji smiles giddily thinking of his Megumi; the butterflies in his stomach are starting to feel like they’re having a dance party. The Megumi he knows is even more amazing and more handsome than bar-stranger Megumi. Man, he wonders where Megumi went…

“What a coincidence.” The stranger deadpans, leading Yuuji over to some more people.

“We’re heading home. See you.” Stranger-Megumi tells the group of people. The group replies with a chorus of goodbyes. Yuuji waves at them and gives them a big grin before proceeding to follow after Stranger-Megumi like the other man asked.

He leads Yuuji out of the bar and to a car. Wow, that rhymes. Yuuji giggles at that, which gets him an odd look from Bar-Megumi.

“Can you open the car door by yourself or do you need help?” The ravenette asks him.

“Where are you taking me?” Yuuji asks the other man, only now just realizing that he’s getting in a car with a stranger.

“Back to your apartment. Come on, it’s cold.”

“How do you know where my apartment is?” Yuuji asks him skeptically, taking a step back from the suspicous guy and his suspicious car.

The man with the pretty green eyes only sighs.

“I’ve taken you there before.” He opens the passenger side door for Yuuji, making a hand gesture for him to come here and get in the car. “Are you going to stay in the parking lot or are you coming? It’s cold.”

“Okayyy!” Yuuji decides all of that makes perfect sense and gets in the car.

Not(?)-Stranger-Megumi gets in the driver’s side, shivering a little bit, then starts up the engine. He buckles his seat belt and reminds Yuuji to do the same before backing out of the parking space. Then, he drives them off somewhere. He briefly wonders if he should make small talk, but Not-His-Megumi doesn’t seem like he wants to talk. Yuuji opts to look out the window at all the city lights in awe instead.

The Megumi guy eventually parks them somewhere else, cutting the engine and telling Yuuji to get out. Yuuji gets out of the car all by himself. See, he’s not that drunk. For some reason, the guy gets out of the car too and even locks it.

“Thanks for driving me home.” Yuuji smiles at him, then starts to head off to the apartment building.

“Hang on a second,” Not-That-Much-Of-A-Stranger-Megumi calls out, stopping him from running off ahead by himself. “Do you even remember what your room number is?”

“Uhm.” Yuuji stops and tries really hard to think, but then realizes he doesn’t remember. “Fourth floor something something?” He answers.

“You don’t remember.” Driver-Guy-Megumi accuses him…actually, is it still called an accusation if it’s true? “So wait for me.”

Driver-Guy-Megumi then leads him into the building and to the elevator (the elevators instead of the stairs because “No, you’re not going up the stairs. You’re just going to fall again.”). He knows the right button to press and he knows how to get all the way to Yuuji’s room, too. Wow, this guy remembers everything.

“You’re such a good rememberer.” Yuuji tells him as the other Megumi also finds the key to open Yuuji’s door first try.

“Thanks?” Driver-Guy-Megumi replies, opening the door and flicking the lights on. In an instant, their—as in his and his Megumi’s—dog comes running to greet him. Kuro is usually shy around strangers, so it’s weird that he greets this Megumi too. Maybe he’s just good with animals. The not-so-much-of-a-stranger takes his own shoes and jacket off. Yuuji tries and horribly fails at copying him. Megumi (not the regular Megumi, it’s still this one, but Yuuji’s just run out of names for him) comes over and helps him. While Megumi—the one in front of him—helps him out of his jacket, Yuuji realizes his wallet is in his pocket.

“Oh! Since you’re the driver I should pay you!” Yuuji tells him, handing him the entire wallet because he doesn’t think he could get it open.

“You don’t have to do that.” Megumi—no, Megumi number two, he does still have names for him!—says, simply placing Yuuji’s wallet on the kitchen counter.

“But you’re being super nice! You should get a tip!”

Other-Megumi seems to think this is funny for some reason.

“I’m not a taxi driver, I’m helping you out because I want to. Come on, go brush your teeth.”

Yuuji obliges, seeing no reason not to brush his teeth. Though it’s a little weird the Stranger-Megumi brushes his teeth in Yuuji’s bathroom too. After he’s done with that, Yuuji goes and splats on the couch, staring at the door. Other-Megumi comes out of the bedroom, in pajamas now, and looks at him quizzically.

“What are you doing?” The Other-Megumi asks him gently, sitting down next to him.

“Megumi’s not back yet. Not you, my Megumi. He’s missing.” Yuuji stresses. The Other-Megumi doesn’t seem to understand just how distressing this is.

“I’m sure he’s fine.”

“You don’t know that! I’m just so worried.”

“How about you text him and ask him?”

“You’re so smart, Other-Megumi!” Yuuji exclaims, fishing his phone out of his pocket and shooting a text to Megumi, his Megumi, to ask him where he is. And Megumi, love of his life Megumi, responds almost instantly. Yuuji grins widely. “He said something!” Yuuji squints at the words on the screen, struggling to make them out.

“I can read it for you.” Megumi number two offers. Yuuji holds his phone out in between them so Megumi-two can see it. “He said he’s ok, he’s just stuck in traffic, and he’ll be back home soon.”

Yuuji quickly types up another response.

“What are you saying to him?” Other-Megumi asks.

“I’m telling him I miss him and I love him and come home safe and hurry up.”

“I see.” Not-Regular-Megumi nods.

Yuuji beams as he gets another answer from his Megumi, even though his head is spinning too much for him to read it.

“He said he’ll do all of that and you should get your pajamas on and go to bed. And he loves you too.”

“I’m so happy,” Yuuji tells Stranger-Megumi. “Have you ever met my Megumi?”

“I think I might’ve, once or twice.”

“He’s the best. He’s kind of grumpy sometimes, but he’s actually really sweet. Did you know that?”

“I had no idea.”

“He’s super smart and cool. He’s like the coolest person ever, actually.” Yuuji gushes.

“Hey, didn’t he tell you to get your pajamas on and go to bed?”

Yuuji gets off the couch, feeling in a much better mood now that his Megumi said he’s ok and coming back soon. Yuuji walks into the bedroom to get his pajamas on, denying help from the Other-Megumi and tells him to stand outside. The Other-Megumi stands outside as Yuuji struggles to get his pajamas on.

“Basically, Megumi is just amazing.” Yuuji continues to ramble. “I have a huge crush on him.”

For some reason, Other-Megumi finds this very funny.

“You have a crush on “your Megumi”?” He asks, amused. Yuuji can practically hear the smile in his tone.

“Sober enough to know I mean that! I do have a crush on him! And what do you even know, anyway? He’s—“

“Ok, ok, I believe you. Are you dressed yet?”

“Almost.” Yuuji wiggles his arms into his pajama sleeves. He can’t figure out how to button it, so he just leaves it unbuttoned. “I am now.”

“Great.” The Other-Megumi sounds tired. He must be really tired because he tries to lie down in Yuuji’s bed. Yuuji feels a little bad for him because he’s been so nice and he’s tired, but he can’t just stay here.

“You can’t be there. That spot’s for Megumi.” Yuuji tells him sternly.

“Oh, right,” Other-Megumi says, getting up. “Goodnight, Yuuji.”

“Bye. Thanks.” Yuuji bids him farewell. The Other-Megumi leaves the bedroom door cracked as he exits. Yuuji tries to stay awake all night so he can wait for Megumi to come back, but he ends up falling asleep before then. The bed feels empty without him.
