Summary
Vixie woke on the beach.
Sand, scalding hot, scraped her palms, wedging between the fabric of her gloves and under her nails. The sun baked her, hot through her worn leathers. The tang of salt and blood was on her lips and in her throat. The light had her squinting, pupils seared.
She stood on shaky legs, having to hold onto the burning wreckage beside her, her mind whirling and body aching, nausea bubbling up from her belly. She caught sight of her patchwork boots, the heel hanging together with a prayer—.
She lurched to a stop, staring downward, blinking twice as her ragtag leather armor remained in place—blurry, yes, but there. Though familiar, its appearance startled her. No, this wasn’t right. She had been wearing Dammon’s leathers, not this ill-fitting set she had stolen off some dead vagabond. She hadn’t worn this since—.
In her head, something writhed.
A scream tore from her throat, loosed into the air, echoing on that ravaged beach, where it had all started.

Tony made a muffled grumbling noise as he leaned over the red and gold suit. Fury, whether Tony had meant it as such or not, took it as his sign to continue. "I took the liberty of getting you an intern."
Finally, Tony looked up. His thick brows furrowed. "An intern? No. I don't want an intern. Send them somewhere else." He turned back to the suit, scowling.
"Not an option, Stark. He's one of ours, and I want him somewhere I can keep my eye on him. He's a smart kid, and I think he could learn a lot from you and the rest of the team.”

Summary
In The Avengers, Natasha Romanova says "Love is for children." It's an expression of life as she knows it, and fits the harsh background most of the Avengers have experienced. Trouble is, people don't do very well without love. In particular it's impossible to form a good team if the members don't care about each other.
So Phil Coulson comes up with a teambuilding exercise to resolve that problem. If love is for children ... then he'll arrange that experience for them. The result is an exploration of nonsexual ageplay to allow a group of very powerful, very broken people to patch up some of the gaps in their lives.
Most of the stories are very sweet in tone and make for good comfort reading. However, canon gives these characters some very unpleasant pasts, and that comes up as they process the aftermath. So the tone does vary, and some stories are more intense than others. They deal with different characters, relationships, and sensitive issues.
Some folks have avoided this series for fear that it goes into sexual territory; it doesn't. Same with embarrassment, very low on that.
